• The Chhattisgarh’s Congress Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced mandatory recitation of the devotional ‘Raghupati raghav rajaram’ and ‘Vaishnav jan to tene kahiye…’ – the favourite bhajans of Gandhi ji – across state schools.

• The government has made several decisions in the last few days to foster Gandhian ideology and thoughts in the state.

• One of them is an ambitious project to create the Seva Gram of the 21st century on the lines of Wardha in the new capital city of Nava Raipur. The move will promote rural art, craft and folk music, besides being a platform for brainstorming.

• The state had also decided to impart education on the teachings of Gandhi to be introduced in the curriculum of Classes V to XII. 

• The former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Nov 1 after over 12 hours of questioning in a money-laundering case linked to an alleged extortion racket in the state police establishment.

• Deshmukh appeared before the agency after the Bombay High Court last week refused to quash ED summonses against him. He had skipped at least five previous ED notices.

• Anil Deshmukh was questioned almost 13 hours. The team of ED Officials including additional director flew from Delhi to question Anil Deshmukh.

• • In a first, to ease the process of shooting a film on trains or at railway stations, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's Film Facilitation Office (FFO) and the Ministry of Railways have collaborated to create a 'single window filming mechanism'.
  • This website aims to make the process of getting permission to film across railways premises more efficient.
  •  Until now, international and Indian film-makers had to visit the offices of Chief Public Relation Officer (CPROs) of the concerned railway zone or the railway board for obtaining permission for filming
  • Once the film-maker or producer uploads the application on www.ffo.org.in for seeking permission for shooting, the FFO will automatically start facilitating the process in tandem with the railway officials.
               Many sites with splendid natural and cinematic beauties are under the jurisdiction of 12 railway zones in the country. The        film-makers make their first choice to those locations of railways.

• An FIR has been registered against a senior Jammu and Kashmir BJP leader Vikram Randhawa for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of a community.

• The party's Jammu and Kashmir unit has taken note of the video of former MLC Randhawa and served him a show cause notice, asking him to explain his position within 48 hours and submit a public apology.

• Randhawa is accused of making disparaging comments over the incidents of celebration of Pakistan's win over India in a cricket match in the ongoing T20 world cup in Dubai.

• The Defence Ministry on Nov 2 approved the procurement of arms and military equipment worth Rs 7,965-crore, including 12 light utility helicopters from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

• The procurement proposals were approved at a meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), the ministry's highest decision-making body on the matter.

• Besides clearing the proposal to buy 12 helicopters, the DAC approved the procurement of Lynx U2 naval gunfire control system from Bharat Electronics Limited that will enhance the tracking and engagement capabilities of naval warships.

• The DAC also approved "mid-life upgradation of Dornier aircraft" by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to increase the naval capacity of maritime reconnaissance and coastal surveillance

• All these proposals are under 'Make in India' with a focus on design, development and manufacturing in the country.

• The military equipment are being procured at a time the Indian armed forces are locked in a bitter border row with China in eastern Ladakh.

• After former State Bank of India Chairman Pratip Chaudhuri was on Nov 1  sent to judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in Jaisalmer in an alleged loan scam

• A non-bailable warrant was issued against Chaudhuri by the Jaisalmer Police on orders of the Jaisalmer court and he was arrested from his Delhi residence and bought to Jaisalmer.

• Chaudhuri, has been accused in a case related to a hotel project in Jaisalmer worth Rs 200 crore being sold for much lower price of Rs 25 crore after declaring it as non-performing asset (NPA).

• The State Bank of India (SBI), in a statement, said that the hotel project was sold with due process in March 2014 after the retirement of Chaudhuri in September 2013.

·       The ex-cop Eric Adams, who fought racial discrimination within the police, was elected New York's next mayor and will become just the second African American to lead the United States's largest city.

·       He will take office in January, tasked with steering the metropolis's economic recovery after the pandemic, which has killed more than 34,000 residents and closed hundreds of thousands of businesses.

·       In 2006, Adams retired and won election to the New York State Senate. He served until 2013, when he was elected Brooklyn borough president, providing a springboard for his mayoral ambitions. Adams will become New York's 110th mayor. Its first Black mayor, David Dinkins, served from 1990 to 1993 -- nearly 30 years ago.
